Minnesota's Latest "Kids Deserve a Shot" Scholarship Initiative Runs Through April 11

The opportunity to participate in the State of Minnesota’s latest “Kids Deserve a Shot” initiative ends exactly one month from today. All Minnesota kids between the ages of 5 and 11 that have completed their two-dose FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine series by Monday, April 11, 2022, are eligible to win a $100,000 college scholarship.

Registration is open through 11:59 PM CST on April 11. Then, on Friday, April 15, the state’s official drawing will select five Minnesota students as $100,000 scholarship winners. These scholarship awards can be used for students to attend any public or private nonprofit postsecondary educational institution in the State of Minnesota.

To enter the “Kids Deserve a Shot” scholarship drawing on behalf of an eligible 5 to 11 year-old Minnesota student, an individual must:  

  • Be 18 years old or older;
  • Be a resident of Minnesota with a Minnesota mailing address;
  • Be the parent or legal guardian of an eligible child; and
  • Complete an official entry form in its entirety, including full name, U.S. Postal Service mailing address including zip code, e-mail address, phone number, and the eligible child’s full name, birthdate, and vaccination dates.

Only one entry is allowed per eligible child. Likewise, and eligible child must:

  • Be a resident of Minnesota with a Minnesota mailing address; 
  • Be at least 5 years old and no older than 11 years old at the time of their first dose of an FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccination;  
  • Have received two (2) doses of an FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccination series prior to the end of the Entry Period (April 11, 2022). 
  • Not be a sibling of a previous Kids Deserve a Shot Vaccination Promotion Scholarship winner. A sibling is defined as one of two or more individuals who have one or both parents in common through blood, marriage, or adoption, and reside in the same household.

This hotline is available Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
