Volunteer Opportunities

  • As a Tax Clinic volunteer at our IRS-certified VITA site, you will work with individuals and families by preparing their tax returns using tax software. You will serve as a trusted resource to ensure families file correctly and receive the support and resources they need to file their taxes this winter season. We will coach and train you to make sure you’re successful and feel confident to make an impact as a volunteer!

You will also become certified in IRS Tax Law through online training. If you are interested in this position but don’t want to take the training, you can still apply and make a difference by helping families navigate technology during clinic times.

  • Join our Energy Conservation department as an AmeriCorps volunteer with the Home Energy Corps initiative this year! This position differs from a traditional volunteer opportunity and offers hands-on experience in the energy industry. Hear from AmeriCorps themselves about this position: "As a Home Energy member, you’ll provide education and services to decrease household energy costs, encourage energy efficiency, and promote the use of solar energy. With great training and opportunities to shadow technicians, we’ll prepare you to connect with homeowners and renters to help them make decisions about energy assistance programs and energy-saving materials." This position differs from a traditional volunteer opportunity and offers hands-on experience in Early Childhood. Our Early Learning Corps members work closely with Head Start teachers, offering vital support and resources to the families and children we serve. Hear from AmeriCorps about this position: "Thousands of kids need extra help building a strong foundation in early literacy and numeracy skills before Kindergarten. Take action as an Early Learning Tutor and help kids emerge stronger and ready for school. As an Early Learning Tutor, you’ll spend your days helping kids ages 3-5 to talk, read, write, sing, and play in order to develop early literacy and math skills. Working closely with a teacher in a classroom, you’ll enhance daily activities and help our youngest learners build both skills and confidence."
