Current Volunteer Opportunities

  1. Join our Battle Creek Head Start as an Early Learning Tutor this fall in St. Paul! This position differs from a traditional volunteer opportunity and offers hands-on experience in Early Childhood. Our Early Learning Corps members work closely with Head Start teachers, offering vital support and resources to the families and children we serve. Hear from AmeriCorps about this position: "Thousands of kids need extra help building a strong foundation in early literacy and numeracy skills before Kindergarten. Take action as an Early Learning Tutor and help kids emerge stronger and ready for school. As an Early Learning Tutor, you’ll spend your days helping kids ages 3-5 to talk, read, write, sing, and play in order to develop early literacy and math skills. Working closely with a teacher in a classroom, you’ll enhance daily activities and help our youngest learners build both skills and confidence."

Click the title above to access a direct application. Email join@ampact.us or call 866-859-2825 for more information on how you can join our Early Learning Corps team at Head Start!

  2. Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children? Join Head Start as an Infant and Toddler Early Learning Partner, making a significant impact on children's developing brains during their crucial first 1,000 days. In this AmeriCorps member position, you'll engage in daily activities fostering early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills in toddlers. We are looking several tutors for our University Head Start, Ruth Benner Head Start, and Battle Creek Head Start locations.

Collaborating with our Head Start teachers, you'll contribute to a supportive community, preparing our youngest learners for success through secure and caring relationships. The program, running from fall to spring, offers comprehensive training and coaching for the 2024-25 program year, starting in August, October or January. Join us in our mission to help children thrive and get ready for school! Interested in this opportunity? This project will create the Garden of May, a peaceful environment where staff can rest and recharge, empowering them to better serve our community. Interested?
