Energy Assistance

We Can Help You Pay Your Energy Bills

You know that a house without energy during the Minnesota winter is impossible to endure. Everyone deserves affordable, continuous, and safe utility services. If you encounter issues with energy, we can help you with bill payment assistance, home energy crisis intervention, outreach to vulnerable populations, energy advocacy, information about utility consumer rights, and referrals to our Energy Conservation service and other community agencies.

COVID-19 Program Update

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Energy Assistance Program will be accepting applications through July 1, 2020.  Our staff is working remotely to process applications and resolve energy crises, so both of our offices are closed for walk-in support until further notice.

Many large energy providers have temporarily postponed disconnections for non-payment during this time.  However, we strongly encourage you to call your energy vendor to work on a payment arrangement AND to apply for Energy Assistance for help with your past due bills.

If you have already been approved for Energy Assistance this season and have a past due bill, call us to see if we can apply additional crisis funds to your account.   Funding is limited, so please apply now.

Please contact us at with questions or for more information about our Energy Assistance program.

Am I Eligible?

Please Note: We are only requesting 1 month proof of household income during the COVID-19 crisis. For example: if you signed and submitted your application in May, please provide proof of gross income earned by everyone in the household for the month of April.
