More Minnesotans Qualify for Energy Assistance Than Ever Before

We are now three weeks into the 2021-2022 heating season and more Minnesotans qualify for Energy Assistance than ever before. If your household is at 60% or below of the State Median Income, or at 110% of the federal poverty guidelines (whichever is greater), you are eligible for the Energy Assistance Program. And starting this year, individuals and families eligible for Energy Assistance can also apply for help paying their water bills and receive weatherization improvements to reduce utility bills and conserve energy usage in the home. Three programs (Energy Assistance, Water Assistance, and Energy Conservation) are now available via a single application.

If you live in Ramsey or Washington counties and need assistance paying your utility bills, please contact Community Action’s Energy Assistance program at 651-645-6470, email us at eap@caprw.org, or visit our Energy Assistance program webpage to download an application, check eligibility guidelines, and access other helpful links. You may also visit our Energy Assistance offices in St. Paul (450 Syndicate Street North, Suite 122) or Oakdale (1101 Geneva Avenue North) to pick up an application. For households outside of Ramsey or Washington counties, please call 651-539-1500 or visit the Minnesota Department of Commerce to request an energy assistance application or locate your local service provider.
