Staff Spotlight: Caitlin Duncan

Community Action is happy to announce the recipient of our 2024 September Staff Spotlight, Planning & Administration Senior Manager, Caitlin Duncan!

Her first nominator said, "Caitlin is one of the most hard working, in my opinion, at CAPRW. They have a vast knowledge of the organization and are friendly and helpful to all staff. This is someone you can count on with project management and making sure everyone has what they need. They always make sure that staff are included and make work a fun place to be.

Her second nominator said, "Caitlin Duncan not only models accountability and transparency themselves, but they also encourage it among their peers and team. They balance accountability and compassion beautifully, a difficult line to tow. They deserve the spotlight!"

We are so grateful to have staff members such as Caitlin Duncan that exemplify our mission, vision, and values! Recently we caught up with Caitlin to learn more about her and how she views her role at Community Action.

What is your favorite part about working at CAPRW?

My favorite part of working at CAPRW is my wonderful team! I am so proud of the work they do. Also, CAPRW keeps me on my toes - it's never the same thing twice!

Do you have a favorite memory about working at CAPRW so far?

We had a presentation at a board meeting from a CAPRW staff person who shared their journey of being a CAPRW participant and employee - including his son being a Head Start student who eventually became a doctor. It was such a great reminder of the work that we do here. I also enjoy planning our all-staff events where I get to collaborate people from different departments and see their talents.

How did you discover your passion for working with a nonprofit?

During the first COVID lockdown and after the murder of George Floyd, I felt like I needed to do more in my work. I wanted to have more meaning and make a difference in my community. I made a career change from my previous career in events into the nonprofit sector and it's been very rewarding.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my family, which consists of my husband, my 1.5 year old daughter, our two dogs, and our cat. I also enjoy taking art classes and working on various creative projects.
