3M Volunteers Help Beautify Battle Creek Head Start Center

“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy.  You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.”

On Friday, June 3, seventeen volunteers from 3M’s Commercial Solutions Divisions donated their time and talents to our Battle Creek Head Start Center in St. Paul. The mission—to spruce up and beautify the center’s playground area for our children and families to enjoy.

Over the course of three hours, 3M volunteers planted new flowers and shrubbery around the building, swept the parking lot, picked up litter, cleaned the windows, and raked leaves and debris out of the mulch and surrounding areas.

“The time that these volunteers spent gardening and beautifying our Battle Creek Head Start playground is so meaningful,” says Community Action Volunteer and Intern Coordinator Abby Jewett, “Projects like this give back to the communities we serve in so many unique and exciting ways. And, we deeply appreciate the time and dedication of our volunteers.”
