Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan Visits the Community Action Resource Center

Yesterday, we had the honor of hosting Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan at the Community Action Resource Center as she toured our Mobile Vaccination Clinic. This mobile clinic, a partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Metro Transit, and the State of Minnesota, is part of the CAPRW Head Start Health Team’s larger effort to help assuage vaccine hesitancy and increase access to the COVID-19 vaccination in both BIPOC and low-income communities.

Thanks again to Lt. Governor Flanagan helping get the word out regarding the vital need to reduce disparities and work toward the state’s goal of (at least partially) vaccinating 70% of Minnesotans 16 and older by July 1, 2021. To help meet this goal, Governor Walz recently announced the “Your Shot to Summer” Vaccination Rewards Program, which offers a selection of several prizes to the first 100,000 state residents (12 and older) to receive and provide proof of vaccination between May 27 and June 30. For more information, including safety guidance, testing locations, how to schedule your vaccine appointment and redeem your reward, please visit Minnesota’s COVID-19 Response webpage.

On the national front, Made to Save, a nonprofit initiative dedicated to vaccine equity and access, has partnered with the US Department of Health and Human Services’ We Can Do This campaign to launch the National Vaccine Month of Action. This coast-to-coast effort is designed to ensure that as many Americans as possible receive at least one-dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by the Fourth of July. And, thousands of education and outreach events are currently scheduled across the nation in order to make this happen. For more information about the safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccines, how to get vaccinated, and how to help others receive their vaccine, visit Made to Save
