Call for Participants in "Our Voices" Study

A pair of nationally renowned education experts, Idara Essien, PhD and J. Luke Wood, PhD, are inviting the parents and guardians of Black children currently in kindergarten through the third grade to participate in “Our Voices”, a nationwide study that examines the parental perceptions of educators providing early childhood education. The “Our Voices” study is IRB (International Research Board) approved by San Diego State University and is a continuation on the previous research and advocacy efforts of Dr. Essien and Dr. Wood related to the support of African American students and students of African descent from preschool to postsecondary education.

If you are interested in participating in this study, please access the informed consent disclosure document and complete and submit the study questionnaire. The researchers note that participation in this study is fully voluntary, completely anonymous, and can be withdrawn at any time, while adding that “as a result of how this survey is designed, no individual will ever know how you responded to the survey, not even the researchers.”

For questions about this study, please feel free to contact Dr. J. Luke Wood at luke.wood@sdsu.edu or by telephone at 619-594-0167. You may also contact the San Diego State University Human Research Protection Program office at 619-594-6622 or via email at irb@sdsu.edu.
