UPDATE
In this past Monday’s edition of the “Working Together” blog, we highlighted the new coronavirus relief bill that Congress voted to approve. This stimulus package would include a $600 Economic Impact Payment (EIP) to most Americans ($1,200 per couple; and, and additional $600 per eligible child), along with supplemental unemployment benefits, renters’ assistance, and other provisions to support schools, healthcare organizations, and small businesses.
However, the current administration is asking Congress to increase the amount of EIPs to Americans, which, for the moment, is holding up the bill’s signing. And, while an increase in EIPs would no doubt help many American households, this delay also puts many of the bill’s other supports (such as the extension to supplemental unemployment and the moratorium on evictions) at risk as these benefits (first put forth as part of the original CARES Act) are scheduled to expire in the coming days.

In the meantime, we wanted to share this FAQ document provided by Congress regarding eligibility and the answers to other important questions related to the second round of Economic Impact Payments, if and when they are approved.
